Border Patrol Agents Arrest Three Sex Offenders

El Centro, California - El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents arrested three convicted sex offenders in the past four days.
On August 22, 2009, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Border Patrol agents responded to a request for assistance from the Riverside County Sheriffs near Mecca, California. Agents interviewed a subject who was illegally present in the United States. The subject’s criminal history revealed he was convicted of a felony count of sex with a minor in Indio, California. The subject is being held pending removal proceedings.
On August 22, 2009 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Border Patrol agents encountered a subject half a mile west of the Calexico downtown port of entry. After interviewing the subject, the agents determined he was illegally present in the United States and arrested him. A criminal history check revealed the subject had been arrested five times by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office for sexual intercourse with a minor. The subject was processed for removal proceedings.
On August 25, at approximately 5:15 a.m., Border Patrol agents arrested a subject half a mile east of the Calexico downtown port of entry for entering the country illegally. The subject was a registered sex offender for sexual battery in Santa Rosa, California. This subject is being held pending prosecution.
Since October 2008, the El Centro Sector Border Patrol has arrested more than 50 sex offenders.

SDMM and friends, and numerous border patrol agents confronted and blocked about 125 protesters from getting to the monument at the fence yesterday to protest our new triple border fence which is under construction at Border Field State Park to close a long-time smuggling area!
