A depiction of the sign banned by Officer Cheeks

"This used to be America," argued a protester outside a health-care town hall meeting in Reston, Va., after a security officer threatened him with arrest for holding up a sign with a picture critical of Barack Obama.

The officer's response?

"It ain't no more, OK?"

Get the prescription for reclaiming America's heritage of liberty – before the what the officer said is true. A video of the town hall held earlier this week by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., shows an unnamed protester standing on school grounds carrying a sign that read "Organizing for National Socialist Health Care – The Final Solution" and depicted Barack Obama in the Joker's makeup.
Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. then told the protester that even though others were holding signs, his sign was unacceptable because of the depiction of Obama.

"But you got this with a picture," Cheeks said, explaining why the protester was being singled out from the others. "That's the difference. This has got a picture on it. That don't have a picture on it.

"Sir, leave the picture down," the officer said. "If you put the picture back up, you'll be charged with trespassing."

Video of the exchange can be seen below:

A 10-year-old homeschool girl described as "well liked, social and interactive with her peers, academically promising and intellectually at or superior to grade level" has been told by a New Hampshire court official to attend a government school because she was too "vigorous" in defense of her Christian faith.

Even as it benefited from the U.S. government's "Cash for Clunkers" program, Toyota plans to close its only California factory.

Toyota announced Friday that it will shutter its only plant on the West Coast, leaving over 4,700 workers without jobs and putting an end to a 25-year joint venture with General Motors.

A Warning For America From South Africa

January 2005

A Warning For America From South Africa

By Gemma Meyer

(Gemma Meyer is the pseudonym of a South African journalist. She and her husband, a former conservative member of parliament, still reside in South Africa.)

People used to say that South Africa was 20 years behind the rest of the Western world. Television, for example, came late to South Africa (but so did pornography and the gay rights movement).Today, however, South Africa may be the grim model of the future Western world, for events in America reveal trends chillingly similar to those that destroyed our country.America's structures are Western. Your Congress, your lobbying groups, your free speech, and the way ordinary Americans either get involved or ignore politics are peculiarly Western, not the way most of the world operates. But the fact that only about a third of Americans deem it important to vote is horrifying in light of how close you are to losing your Western character.Writing letters to the press, manning stands at county fairs, hosting fund-raising dinners, attending rallies, setting up conferences, writing your Congressman - that is what you know, and what you are comfortable with. Those are the political methods you've created for yourselves to keep your country on track and to ensure political accountability. But woe to you if - or more likely, when - the rules change. White Americans may soon find themselves unable or unwilling to stand up to challenge the new political methods that will be the inevitable result of the ethnic metamorphosis now taking place in America. Unable to cope with the new rules of the game - violence, mob riots, intimidation through accusations of racism, demands for proportionality based on racial numbers, and all the other social and political weapons used by the have-nots to bludgeon treasure and power from the haves - Americans, like others before them, will no doubt cave in. They will compromise away their independence and ultimately their way of life. That is exactly what happened in South Africa. I know, because I was there and I saw it happen.Faced with revolution in the streets, strikes, civil unrest and the sheer terror and murder practiced by Nelson Mandela's African National Congress (ANC), the white government simply capitulated in order to achieve "peace."Westerners need peace. They need order and stability. They are builders and planners. But what we got was the peace of the grave for our society. The Third World is different - different peoples with different pasts and different cultures. Yet Westerners continue to mistake the psychology of the Third World and its peoples. Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe are perfect examples of those mistakes. Sierra Leone is in perpetual civil war, and Zimbabwe - once the thriving, stable Rhodesia - is looting the very people (the white men) who feed the country. Yet Westerners do not admit that the same kind of savagery could come to America when enough immigrants of the right type assert themselves. The fact is, Americans are sitting ducks for Third World exploitation of the Western conscience of compassion. Those in the West who forced South Africa to surrender to the ANC and its leaders did not consider Africa to be the dangerous, corrupt, and savage place it is now in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Those Western politicians now have a similar problem looming on their own doorsteps: the demand for power and treasure from the non-Western peoples inside the realm. It is already too late for South Africa, but not for America if enough people strengthen their spine and take on the race terrorists, the armies of the "politically correct" and, most dangerous of all, the craven politicians who believe "compassionate conservatism" will buy them a few more votes, a few more days of peace.White South Africans, you should remember, have been in that part of Africa for the same amount of time whites have inhabited North America; yet ultimately South Africans voted for their own suicide. We are not so very different from you.We lost our country through skillful propaganda, pressure from abroad (not least from the U.S.A.), unrelenting charges of "oppression" and "racism," and the shrewd assessment by African tyrants that the white man has many Achilles' heels, the most significant of which are his compassion, his belief in the "equality of man," and his "love your neighbor" philosophy - none of which are part of the Third World's history. The mainline churches played a big role in the demise of Western influence throughout Africa, too; especially in South Africa. Today's tyrants were yesterday's mission-school proteges. Many dictators in Africa were men of the cloth. They knew their clerical collars would deflect criticism and obfuscate their real aims, which had nothing whatever to do with the "brotherhood of man."Other tyrants, like the infamous Idi Amin, were trained and schooled by the whites themselves, at Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard. After receiving the best from the West, they unleashed a resentful bloodlust against their benefactors. From what I have seen and read thus far, I fear Americans will capitulate just as we did. Americans are, generally, a soft lot. They don't want to quarrel or obstruct the claims of those who believe they were wronged. They like peace and quiet, and they want to compromise and be nice.A television program that aired in South Africa showed a town meeting somewhere in Southern California where people met to complain about falling standards in the schools. Whites who politely spoke at the meeting clearly resented the influx of Mexican immigrants into their community. When a handful of Chicanos at the back of the hall shouted and waved their hands at them, the whites simply shrunk back into their seats rather than tell the noisemakers to shut up. They didn't want to quarrel. In America, the courts are still the final arbiters of society's laws. But what will happen when your future majority refuses to abide by court rulings - as in Zimbabwe. What will happen when the new majority says the judges are racists, and that they refuse to acknowledge "white man's justice"? What will happen when the courts are filled with their people, or their sympathizers? In California, Proposition 187 has already been overturned. What will you do when the future non-white majority decides to change the names of streets and cities? What will you do when they no longer want to use money that carries the portraits of old, dead white "racists" and slave owners? Will you cave in, like you did on flying the Confederate flag? What about the national anthem? Your official language?Don't laugh. When the "majority" took over in South Africa, the first targets were our national symbols. In another generation, America may well face what Africa is now experiencing - invasions of private land by the "have-nots;" the decline in health care quality; roads and buildings in disrepair; the banishment of your history from the education of the young; the revolutionization of your justice system. In South Africa today, only 9 percent of murderers end up in jail. Court dockets are regularly purchased and simply disappear. Magistrates can be bribed as can the prison authorities, making escapes commonplace. Vehicle and airplane licenses are regularly purchased, and forged school and university certificates are routine. What would you think of the ritual slaughter of animals in your neighbor's backyard? How do you clean up the blood and entrails that litter your suburban streets? How do you feel about the practice of witchcraft, in which the parts of young girls and boys are needed for "medicinal" purposes? How do you react to the burning of witches?Don't laugh. All that is quite common in South Africa today.Don't imagine that government officials caught with their fingers in the till will be punished. Excuses - like the need to overcome generations of white racism - will be found to exonerate the guilty. In fact, known criminals will be voted into office because of a racial solidarity among the majority that doesn't exist among the whites. When Ian Smith of the old Rhodesia tried to stand up to the world, white South African politicians were among the Westerners pressuring him to surrender. When Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe murders his political opponents, ignores unfavorable court decisions, terrorizes the population and siphons off millions from the state treasury for himself and his friends, South Africa's new President Thabo Mbeki holds his hand and declares his support. That just happened a few weeks ago.Your tax dollars will go to those who don't earn and don't pay. In South Africa, organizations that used to have access to state funds such as old age homes, the arts, and veterans' services, are simply abandoned. What will happen is that Western structures in America will be either destroyed from without, or transformed from within, used to suit the goals of the new rulers. And they will reign either through terror, as in Zimbabwe today, or exert other corrupt pressures to obtain, or buy votes. Once power is in the hands of aliens, don't expect loyalty or devotion to principle from those whose jobs are at stake. One of the most surprising and tragic components of the disaster in South Africa is how many previously anti-ANC whites simply moved to the other side.Once you lose social, cultural, and political dominance, there is no getting it back again.Unfortunately, your habits and values work against you. You cannot fight terror and street mobs with letters to your Congressmen. You cannot fight accusations of racism with prayer meetings. You cannot appeal to the goodness of your fellow man when the fellow man despises you for your weaknesses and hacks off the arms and legs of his political opponents. To survive, Americans must never lose the power they now enjoy to people from alien cultures. Above all, don't put yourselves to the test of fighting only when your backs are against the wall. You will probably fail.Millions around the world want your good life. But make no mistake: They care not for the high-minded ideals of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, and your Constitution. What they want are your posessions, your power, and your status. And they already know that their allies among you, the "human rights activists," the skillful lawyers and the left-wing politicians will fight for them, and not for you. They will exploit your compassion and your Christian charity, and your good will. They have studied you, Mr. and Mrs. America, and they know your weaknesses well.

They know what to do. Do you?

US seeks crackdown on drug smuggling aboard trains

By CHRISTOPHER SHERMAN (AP) – 9 hours ago
BROWNSVILLE, Texas — When rail cars idle on side tracks in Mexico to be loaded with legitimate cargo and shipped to the United States, drug smugglers scan for places to hide their own loot — and if no good place is apparent, they make one.
Marijuana and cocaine can be concealed above rail car axles or behind false undercarriages made of plywood. Bolder smugglers sometimes weld a false wall into a car or sabotage trains to stop them and quickly stow their contraband on board before the train moves on. Cars are then tagged with graffiti or other markings so the dealer in the U.S. can spot his delivery.
Drug smuggling by rail "is something that for years may have gone under the radar," said Mayor Chad Foster of Eagle Pass, which is expected to become by next year the busiest rail crossing on the U.S.-Mexico border. Creative smugglers, he added, "don't miss a stroke."
Thousands of pounds of drugs arrive in the U.S. by freight train every year. Now the federal government says it's time American rail companies cracked down on their Mexican business partners to keep the drugs from reaching the border.
Drugs shipped by rail still represent only a fraction of the drugs seized along the border. But the volume of illicit cargo is growing in some places.
Last year, customs officers in Nogales, Ariz., seized more than 650 pounds of marijuana on three different trains in just one week.
In the previous six months, they had seized about 1 1/2 tons of marijuana, compared with only 367 pounds the year before. In Calexico, Calif., a particularly problematic crossing, 4 1/2 tons were seized between 2001 and 2006.
Smugglers have "been very opportunistic, and they have very good intelligence," said Scott Carns with Duos Technologies, a Florida company that has sold security systems to railroads and the government for use on the border.
Because American rail companies have an ownership stake in the two largest Mexican railroads, U.S. law enforcement is pressuring rail companies to crack down on smuggling.
If they do not comply, U.S. railroads risk massive fines. If the railroads improve security, trains could get quicker border inspections.
Earlier this year, the Justice Department sued Omaha, Neb.-based Union Pacific in three states to collect $37 million in fines for drug seizures made on its trains.
"Failure to comply with reasonable security measures leads to vulnerabilities that are simply unacceptable," the agency's acting commissioner, Jayson Ahern, said when the lawsuits were filed.
Armando Torres, a Mexican transportation consultant, said security by the railroads and Mexican law enforcement has been steadily improving since rail lines went private in 1997.
But drug smugglers still manage to move their shipments, and part of the problem is corruption, negligence or fear among rail workers, according to experts.
The U.S. government's approach to the problem is illustrated by the case of Union Pacific railroad and its Mexican partner, Ferrocarril Mexicano, or Ferromex, the largest railroad in Mexico.
Union Pacific, the busiest railroad crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, refused to pay the fines because it said it could not police rail cars before they enter the U.S.
Court documents suggest that the government really wants Union Pacific to use its 26 percent stake in Ferromex to pressure that company to improve security.
Last year, the U.S. government offered to cut one penalty against Union Pacific to 10 percent of the original $4.1 million, in exchange for cooperation and a promise that it specifically address drug smuggling on its railcars crossing the border at Calexico.
The same day the government sued Union Pacific, Ferromex issued a statement outlining its security investments.
The government's strategy appears to conform with its broader strategy of extending U.S.-style security measures south of the Rio Grande.
After the government sued, Union Pacific said it had "urged Ferromex to take action, but it views the Mexican military as having primary responsibility for drug interdiction in Mexico."
Union Pacific cannot be expected to achieve what neither the American nor Mexican governments could accomplish, "and it should not be punished," the railroad said.
Ferromex says it spent more than $15 million in 2008 on security measures, including fencing in rail yards, installing surveillance cameras and hiring drug-sniffing dog teams.
Ferromex spokeswoman Leonor Torres Duenas wrote in an e-mail that the company would take the same measures with or without U.S. pressure.
"Security is a constant concern for Ferromex, and we work to improve it because of the consequences it represents for our costs and the service we provide our clients, not for external pressures," Torres wrote.
Union Pacific says it has cooperated with Customs and Border Protection by donating border inspection buildings to the agency and providing K-9 training for government inspectors among other things.
Julian Bianchi, head of security services in Latin America for risk consultant Kroll Inc., said even the best security programs can be thwarted by "a person who can be influenced, bribed or threatened."

A lesson that should be taught in all schools

And colleges Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, asocial studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock ,did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with thepermission of the school superintendent, the principal and the buildingsupervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom. When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that therewere no desks. 'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn theright to sit at a desk.' They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.' 'No,' she said. 'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.' And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, thirdperiod. Still no desks in the classroom. By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering inMs.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had takenall the desks out of her room. The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seatson the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done toearn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in thisclassroom. Now I am going to tell you.' At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom andopened it. Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into thatclassroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing theschool desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongsidethe wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in placethose kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in theirlives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned. Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. Theseheroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's upto you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be goodstudents, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you couldhave the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.' By the way, this is a true story. Please consider passing this along so others won't forget that thefreedoms we have in this great country were earned by U. S. Veterans.

Kudos, plaudits and a salute to all the folks who turned out on Tuesday at Oggi’s Restaurant in Chula Vista to support the family of murdered Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas. When a pair of Stragglers arrived at the restaurant at a touch before high noon the line was out the door and the wait for seating was 40 minutes. And it didn’t let up. The restaurant will write Rosie Rosas a check for 25% of all the days’ proceeds. There was also a donation jug at the bar and wrist bands were selling well as well.

A good number of law enforcement personnel came. And a ton of CBP agents and supervisors as well. It was not a good day to plan on robbing this restaurant. There were more guns than at a Health Care Town Hall Meeting.

And we ran into several folks Byron Slater, Jim Dorsey and others who learned of the fund raiser from the Gazette. We never cease to be amazed at the influence of this small CA valley newspaper.

As usual we took some digital pix for you. Posted here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/dehesavalleygazette

There will be more fund raisers for the Rosas family in the coming days. We’ll pass along info as it comes to us. We do know that there will be an event on September 12 at the La Posta CafĂ© (next to the Campo BP station on Old Highway 80.) Here are the details:

Event is on Saturday, September 12 and is given by The Campo Border Patrol Station. Hosted by The La Posta diner (619) 478-5600, 32337 Old Hwy 80.
It is co-hosted by Bud Wharton and the San Diego "Nice Guys".

All proceeds will go to Rosas' family.

Breakfast: 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.; pancakes, eggs and sausage

Lunch 12 p.m. - 2 pm.; hamburgers, hot dogs and BBQ Sandwiches

Dinner: 3:00 - 6:00; BBQ Ribs & chicken with Ranch Beans & coleslaw

Memorial Service to be held at 3:00 PM

*Auction to follow Memorial Service. Silent Auction throughout the day. Live Music & Entertainment throughout the day.

* Accepting donations for auction items including baked goods.

One Gazette reader at the Oggi’s event asked me for an update on the Rosas murder case. She’d heard of arrests in Tijuana . I’ve been out of the loop for a week so I’m clueless, but I I-Check and find the old story about 6 people being arrested in Tijuana but then find a more current story on the reward being offered for the killers. Correct me if I am wrong but I don’t think we have the killer in custody in USA or by Mexicans over there. There was a flurry of news about an arrest at a CA hospital as well as the TJ arrests but zip since then. Here’s the most recent reward item I find:

http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/aug/07/feds-offering-250000-reward-rosas-killing/?&zIndex=145638

But in my search I do get across this Tuesday dated story on the Rosas autopsy. The use of the word murder is too mild. Robert Rosas was executed. Shot 8 times. Shot four times in the head. Once in the neck and three times in the torso. This was not a case of suspects attempting to flee. Leaks of an "ambush," continue to thrive. The killers killed savagely and tirelessly. And apparently with great satisfaction. This was not only a murder but a message(s).

There is no border.
We will come and go as we please.
We will bring slave labor people.
We will bring child prostitutes.
We will bring drugs.
We will send gangs into your cities and towns. We will occupy neighborhoods.
We will grow our drug product in your forests.
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/aug/18/us-california-wildfires-081809/?nation&zIndex=151265

Bilingual means you will learn Spanish.

And if you stand in our way we will slaughter you.
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/aug/18/us-border-agent-shot-081809/?nation&zIndex=151510

And so shame on the Obama administration. He ordered National Guard troops to the border. So far nada. DHS and the Pentagon bitch over who will pay and what will be the rules of engagement.
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/aug/12/us-national-guard-border-081209/?&zIndex=148029

Send them tomorrow
Send them locked and loaded and with ROE that say when in doubt open fire
Tell the Pentagon that they will pay. Make it a military ops
And can we get a few Special Forces folks on the border as well. I’m ready for some pay back, pretty pronto.

Meanwhile border cities are getting a total of 30 million DHS dollars to stem border spill over of Mexican violence. Why am I convinced that few if any of those bucks will actually be spent securing our border or our interior. San Diego City will get several million bucks and SD City is a Sanctuary City . Sanders is likely to set up a homeless facility for illegals.
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/aug/12/state-get-7-million-border-violence/?&zIndex=147936

One of the lamest retorts I hear about National Guard foot dragging is that we are involved in two wars and the Pentagon cannot spare the NG troops or support funds. HELLO CAPTAIN IDIOT!! Map-time. Where is Iraq ? Where is Afghanistan ? Where is Mexico ? Think the War closest to HOME might get some priority?

I think I need to re-enlist.

If you didn’t make it to Chula Vista on Tuesday you can still help:

Donations for the Rosas family should be sent to Rosie Rosas, C/O: Sheriff Jay, P.O. Box 2115 , La Mesa , CA , 91943 . Also checks should be made out directly to Rosie Rosas.

MUTTERINGS

* I watch the town hall meetings with some glee. I note the folks getting up to foam at face. Get red in face. Shake, quake and quiver with anger over gummint healthcare. But damned if most (all?) of the folks don’t look older than dirt. Hell they gotta be on Medicare. So what’s up bitching about gummint healthcare. You be on it dingbat.

**Much made about folks showing up at TH-Meetings armed to the teeth. "How terrible is that," some say. Nobody showed up with an illegal weapon that I can tell. Nobody busted for not having a gun permit or carry permit that I heard. So the bitch is about what? That folks have guns? That folks carry guns? Is there an argument there that I am missing? I like being around folks who are well armed. It makes me feel safe. And I didn’t hear any of the lawmakers at the hall sessions complaining. I suspect they dare not. Armed Patriots are a pretty good sized vote block
